Daycare at K9 Kabana

Our mission

Is your dog a social butterfly? Do you have a new puppy that you wish to socialize in a controlled environment? We can help!

Here at K9 Kabana, we have indoor and outdoor play areas (weather allowing) for your dog to expend physical energy with friends. Playgroups are kept in smaller numbers in order to provide each dog the opportunity to learn as well as play with dogs of similar size and complimentary play styles. All groups are supervised by experienced pet care providers, cohesive in our excitement to never stop learning about canine behavior that relates to dog-dog interaction and the overall well being of our favorite four legged-friends. We are happy to be perpetual students of continuing education that includes the ability to collaborate with a wonderful community of knowledge and support from many local, as well as far away colleagues in veterinary health, behavior and care-giving in the canine world.

Play groups rotate between activities and rest throughout their day.

Priority is placed on quality, beneficial and safe dog-dog interactions during free play. Daycare that includes dog-dog interactions should enhance the lives of our dogs, not stress or over exert.

**All meals/snacks, nap time and overnight care takes place in their own private space, therefore, we are not cage free!**

Most of our campers are on a set schedule and generally come the same day(s) every week. Each day is filled to our facility and staff capacity and therefore, we can not accept walk-ins.

All guests are interviewed and assessed prior to joining group play or boarding. Assessment and observation will continue throughout our play day relationship going forward as we do expect regular attendance, at the least, every other week. We watch for changes that may indicate that he/she is not enjoying their time to the fullest extent as well as anything that may indicate that there may be physical changes or discomfort that we can share with you.

Meet and Greet appointments are available during the weekdays only, as it allows proper planning for evaluating a new dog when he or she can be introduced to one of our "seasoned" campers that are here for daycare on any given appointment day.

Vaccine requirements: All dogs 16 weeks and older are required by state law to have a current Rabies vaccine on file.

DHPPC and Bordetella are required at the minimum; annually.

The Canine Flu vaccine is currently HIGHLY recommended per our attending veterinarian and may become a permanent part of our required vaccines at any time in the future.

We accept ALL AGES of puppies! Waiting until all vaccines have been completed is no longer recommended because we will have missed a crucial socialization window that is, unfortunately, irreplaceable. However, we do recommend that any new dog or puppy that you have recently adopted into your family, be a part of your home for a minimum of 3 weeks to 1 month prior to bringing them here for a Meet and Greet, as well as a visit with their veterinarian to ensure that they are current on their vaccine schedule and healthy to play. At that time, we can begin gently introducing them to new people and doggie friends in a positive and supportive manner.

All of our guests, whether they are here for daycare or boarding (especially puppies!) are in charge of what they do or do not want to explore or engage in while under our supervision here at K9 Kabana. We will not force activities or dog-dog interactions on any dog at any time.
